Monday's Project

Since I'm caught up with BHMQ, I thought I'd try and finish up the Temecula Mystery Quilt.  I'm using my Atlas sewing machine, which is one of my ebay scores.  She sews very good, is quiet and the Bobbin s hold a lot of thread.

Quilts of 2016.

Everyone is posting pictures of quilets that they made over the year.  I started to feel underproductive until I went back and started to look at all I had done.   So here they are, In no particular order.  Technically I put all the pieces together and quilted it in 2016.   The blocks were 2014  There are 2 Mario Quilts that I made.    The blues are different  My Sister, Beth< nade a butterfly qult also for my nieces twins

BH MQ Clue #5

Image
This was an easy clue for Christmas week.  I had it knocked out in no time.    I discovered why I ran low on my purples.   I had ordered my kit from Whittles and failed to read that pink was being used as the lavender.   OOPS......Since I'm not a pink person,   I'm not too upset about that, but will have to work on replacing the cwr purples at some point.  .     I'm still treadling away in this project and am contemplating on attempting to do the quilting on the treadle too.  I've never done any quilting on the treadle,  so I will have to practice and It would be straight  lines only

This is Garlic Knot.  BH had it in one of th Quilt Maker Magazines.  I didn't start it until early fall.  This was my just sit a sew  project between school and work.   Everything was cut from previous projects, I just had to supplement some of the backgrounds.        The border was done in gray.   I was going to do the quilt wit the gray background but wasn't working for me.  Someone suggesested taht I ues the gray blocks as the border, which worked really good.  The quilting was a struggle, then the circles just happened and looked good with the quilt. The back is flannel.  you can see the early attempts of what I was going to do the quilting in.

BH MQ En Provence 2016 Step #4

Image
This is the first attempted link up of this MQ year !!!  I'm hoping it works.   I decided to sew the MQ on the Treadle.   So far EVERYTHING has been done on it.  She is a 1920 Red Eye Treadle,   She sews really well and is very smooth.

BH MQ step 4

Bonnie Hunter's MQ step 2

Image
I'm All Done with step #2 !!!!!  Only had to take apart 6 .......Not too bad.   I used method 3.  It made more sense to me, esp with working night shift,  I didn't have to think too hard :)                            I got my fetherweight to working (Thanks to folks on Vintage Sewing Machines on Facebook )                    Steps 1 & 2 done AND ironed.. (the good fairies of ironing did not show up last night )                     see... still have the bonus one to iron.   Time to hit Netflix and race a movie

Bonnie Hunter's MQ step 1

Image
My plan was to wait and see how everyone's quilt was shaping up before I started and picked colors. I always like others variations and wish I had tried that color palette...... But alas, I jumped in! The only color I changed was the pinks..... Swapped to reds... So here are the results of step #1

Battle of the never-ending quilt !

Image
It always pays to read directions at least one time all the way through....  Sometimes one needs to read the directions more than one time.... It prevents said person from making 16 blocks that are too small.   There is now way to fix it, other than make 16 new blocks,  which I have dutifully done !             I've sewed them all together...   The length is good,  Now I'm not happy with the width              It Doesn't look bad,  but after all the trouble I want it big enough to cover my bed !!!                                                  I'm not running low on scraps either :> It Back to sew world and marathon sewing....  I'll have to see what hits my fancy on Netflix
